Read using Your Heart!

This week at The Crop Spot, I'm sharing the tutorial of the above layout titled "Hold My Hand". There are various technique involved in this tutorial. Among them are adding colours to paintable, stamping, enhancing embossed cardstock etc.

Besides the tutorial, I want to introduce something new to all of you! This new technique would be "Reading a Layout using your Heart"!! From today onwards, every time I post a layout to share here, I would hope that you all could try to read it using your heart. How? For example, try to study the layout above and pick out the details that I've done and link it to the subject of the layout. I've always been asked, "how I get my inspirations for my layouts?". If you're able to read my layout using your heart, you will know where or how I get my inspiration. Try interpreting the about layout using your heart and post your comment below. For some encouragement, I'll be choosing a winner and she will get a little gift from me! Have fun!

Lastly, I would like to say "thank you very much" too all of you who had left me some encouragement words here or facebook, which help me through this tough moments. I'm so blessed to have all of you in my journey!

as always I love your work... as for reading with my heart I'd have to say the inspiration for the swirls in the flowers would have come from the swirls in the ring... and the way the flowers draw up towards where the arms would be, bringing the hands together... very nice!

Another gorgeous layout - here is what I see when I look at it using my heart-

I see the owl which could represent the adults hand who is wise compared to the innocence of the younger hand.
The stitches on the alphas crossed to form kisses which represent love.
The smaller flowers representing youth and innocence.
Swirls on the flowers to connect them with the ring in the photo as said before.

In this layout I see the child's hand and the adult's, presumably the parent. The feelings I get are of comfort, reassurance, or even guidance. I even feel some representation of the comfort of touch while sharing a special moment together. These feelings come from not only the photo, but also the elements that have been used such as the Asian rubon, the flowers, the owl. This might be a stretch but the inner part of the layout is Asian while the outer paper has French script. This could portray guiding a child as they expand their world. Mostly I get comfort and reassurance which could be reciprocal between the adult and child.

Once again you have created a gorgeous layout. You are such a talented artist!

Well, as I have already stated this is another gorgeous piece of work from you Irene!! THe 'heart' huh? I always lead with my heart!! Oh sometimes that gets me into trouble but I am what I am! :)
So when I look at your page here with my heart I see many things that give me inspiration...1st the photo...so pretty and sweet... hand in hand, nothing sweeter than that. 2nd the colors..I love yellow and orange, they make me happy. 3rd the flowers are always so pretty and wish I could make them like you do with the inking and all. 4th the stitching on the title letters is such a cool thing...simple things I never think about. 5th all the Asian undertones here...love it, always so pretty and gentle looking! 6th that little owl he is so cute!!! Oh, I could go on but those are the things I see right away and take inspiration from! Hugs Irene...I hope you get the time you need!

WOW. I love that layout. It speaks to me in so many ways with all the bright colors, flowers, and swirls.

But, I'd have to say, the most meaningful and powerful thing about it are the hands and the words. It's like letting my two kids know that I will always be there for them no matter what they go through in life and that no matter how old they become (and when they leave home and start their life), that I will always be there to guide them.

Thanks for the inspiration Irene. Love your work and I always wonder how you can create such beautiful creations. I guess that's where I'm lacking - reading from the heart.
The moment I look at the photo, I feel a sense of belonging, protection and comfort. The child will not be lost because of the guiding hand of the adult. There is so much security here and the flowers/vines surrounding the photos portray as much calmness and security required by a child. The owl, as always represents wisdom and a child will always look up to an adult as the wisest person in the whole world.
A very colourful and meaningful representation and hopefully I shall learn to create more layouts in this manner. Thank you.

An adults' hand and a childs hand. Many different connotations (sp) but the biggest is love and protection, basic needs, say no more. I love your blog and your layouts are beyond beautiful. also love seeing the pictures of your dog. Hope things are looking brighter for you.

Hi Irene!! Still looking in on your blog all the time!
okay...here's what I see and I could be WAaaaay off but I'll give it a go. The Lady appears to be Japanese, I think the red bling and the red and yellow in the LO represent the Land of the Rising sun. The swirls as previously mentioned represent the child. The stitches represent family ties...so I'm thinking this is a Grandparent perhaps and the other flowers look to be peacock feathers and so I will guess this is a male so either it represents a father or Grandfather with some Japanese heritage. Also shown by the "wise Old Owl" making me think Grandfather but fathers are wise as well.
Now I could be wrong on the Japenese end of things...perhaps it is that the Japanese lady only symbolizes the Asian decent and the red is representing Chinese which is a very lucky lucky color. (??Maybe the fact it is a woman is representing Grandmother??)....Oh I will be interested to hear of what your heart said!! Thank you for sharing! I found this VERY interesting.

I see the swirls on the ring in the picture repeated in the cut-out swirls in the layout. The colors - orange and yellow were picked to reflect the warmth of the love.

Really like the swirls.

Growing deep love represented by the naturally flowing vines, blossoming love represented with flowers, and wise and quiet love represented by the owl. A beautiful picture of being surrounded with a loving peace that has a life all it's own.

love the vibrant colours on the LO. "Hold My Hand" literally means you can rely on me for support or guidance. The background colour of the hand image is black, represent "the unknown, uncertainty, unexplore", symbolized the world of the child. On top/front of the hand image frame is the colourful floral, swirl and owl represent beautiful life ahead but with some challenges but the child is being assured of comfort&guidance by the wise father (owl or bird symbolized partriach)leading in front. I see that the text paper is the biggest portion of the layout, represent the world full of knowledge and that is what the child going to learn. There is an oriental woman behind the hand image frame, which i think represent the mother who is always supportive and rendering unconditional love to the child. The father on the left (owl) and the mother on the right (woman image) mean that the child is in loving and caring family even though there are bound to be some challenges here and there (as in the stitches in the alpha).
hugs, heaney
