Artful ATC

This is an ATC that I've created recently. Have had loads of fun with masking, inking, painting, stamping and distressing while creating this ATC.

To create the background, I've done loads of masking using Tim Holtz-ideaology masking template. I've also stamped around it and add liquid pearls to it.

The handle and the key are actually chipboard. I've inked it with distress ink and cover it with perfect pearls. This is the "Creating your Faux Metal Pieces" technique. Later, I've covered it with some distress stickles to further distress it.

I've also added various metal elements on it to make all the hardware look more realistic.

It's really a fast and fun ATC. Hope you all like it.

11 Weeks

This is actually my third project using Swirlydoos Sept kit. It's layout on Hiro when he is just 11 weeks old. Isn't he the cutest little bundle?

Here are the steps to the layout.
1) Use a pattern paper as the base for this layout. Ink it's edges with distress ink.

2) Cut out a huge square frame from another pattern paper and ink it's edges with distress ink. Hand stitch some zig-zag stitches on the upper right and lower left of the frame.
3) Use a clock masking template from Tim Holtz idea-ology and some distress ink to mask the clock on the upper right of the layout. Use a dew-drop from Robin's Nest and Stickles to dress it up.

4) Cut out three strips of different width and length from three different pattern papers and distress their edges using the scissors distressing technique. Ink their edges with distress ink and attach them horizontally on the layout.

5) Cut out a rectangular piece from a cardstock and distress it's edges. Ink it with distress ink and add it to the left of the layout. Distress the edges of the photograph and ink it with distress ink. Add it on top of the cardstock.
6) Cut out some flourishes from the pattern paper and ink it with distress ink. Attach it using some foam adhesives Detail it with Stickles. Also cut out some flowers from another pattern paper and ink it's edges with distress ink. Cut some slits in between it's petals and fold it up to create some dimensions. Add it randomly all over the layout and dress it up with dew drops and Stickles.

7) Cut out some clocks from one of the pattern paper and ink it's edges with distress ink. Attach them to the lower right of the layout using some foam adhesives. Detail them with mini brads and liquid pearls.

8) Add a small clock rub-on on the lower right of the photograph. To create the title, simply ink some chipboard alphas and numbers with distress ink and later cover them with glossy accents.

Even though this layout might be a little late but I hope that it could at least inspire you all somehow.

First Project at The Crop Spot This Month!

It's time for me to share my first project for The Crop Spot this month. Below is a sneak peek of the project.

Hiro at 19 Weeks

Hiro is fully recovered now. He is eating much more than before he got sick. We noticed that he is slowly getting rid of the habit of chewing on furniture. He prefers to chew on his toys and chewing treats. I guess he is a smart boy!

So far the peanut butter in his "kong" toy works amazing! He loves it and could finish it in minutes. We've also tried the freeze water technique with the toy but he is not that interested in it. If you have any other ideas in using these "kong" toys with your furkids, do share it here.

Time is really getting near for my trip to Russia and my visa is yet to arrive! There's nothing much I could do except to wait for it. For those of you who had registered for my classes and wish to know more about what you should bring, you can email me. I'll be glad to answer them for you.

On another note, lately there are some local readers here who had emailed me to ask "why didn't I organized any classes here?" As much as I would liked to, I just don't know how. There are too few people who knows about scrapbooking in Penang or would want to learn about it. Ok, I'll just open this offer to you all, if you all could get at least a group of 10 ladies for a class, then I would consider to teach. They need not be already a scrapper. I do hope to build a scrapping community here in Penang. Email me if you have any questions or wish to talk to me more about this.

Networking

This is an artsy layout that I've created for Pages In Time. I've used the cool vintage pattern papers from Graphic45. Love how these pattern papers had inspired me on the design of this page.

Here are some of the details on the page.

1) I've used a die-cut doiley pattern paper to layer on the page and loads of pieces from the pattern papers to layer all over the layout. Add stitching, inking and distressing to them. Use foam adhesives to create dimensions and use liquid pearls to add details.

2) As for the photograph, I've actually cut it into two pieces and link it together using some stitches. On the bigger piece of photograph, I've done some stenciling and stamping on it. To further create the window or square look. I've also used a paper piercer to poke some squares on it.

3) I've also used the "Stitch Over your Embellishment" technique on some of the embellishment on the layout.
4) I've inked some raw chipboard alphas to create the title.
5) On the bouquet, I've used a heart shaped paper doiley to fold it into a an opening cone as the base for it.

6) Use the "Distressing With Acrylic Paint" technique on the flowers and add loads of fibers, rick-racks, ribbons to it. Also add some grungeboard flourishes to it.

I'm not sure how many of you like this layout but it's definitely an area that you should at least try it out to bring yourself to the next level. Be bold and brave in your design and experiment! After all, it's just papers, inks and a piece of photograph that you could always reprint. Have fun!
