I'm "1"

This is a layout on Chloe's first birthday. The inspiration for this layout is from the photographs. I've used the colours and the mysterious feel of the photographs in this layout.

First of all, I've used the 3D blocking techniques here. (Refer to my topic "3D Blocking techniques" in my tips and tricks section)

Secondly, I've used the "Using Flowers within Flower" technique for the huge bloom in my layout. (Refer to my tips and tricks section)

I've used various chipboard pieces in this layout. I've painted the flourishes chipboard pieces and stamped it. I've also used some chipboard letters to create the title.

I've piled up three heart shape tags or frames and used various different pattern papers and vellum to add some colours and interest to it. To soften the look, I've used some fibers to tie them together to part of the chipboard flourishes.

In this layout, I've also doodled as well as using some flourishes rub-ons on the photographs. I've also hand doodled the huge white flourishes on the lower left hand corner.

It has been interesting doing the 3D blocking design! Try it!

3D Blocking technique

This is a technique that I've used in my latest layout titled "I'm 1" in my baby gallery. It's a technique where it will reflects a raised blocking design.

Simply follow the steps below.

1. First cut out a few pieces of crafting foam. In my layout, I've cut out three pieces of green crafting foam and two pieces of blue crafting foam. Then attach all the green foams together. Do the same for the blue foams.
Later, attach the foams to your background card stock. In my layout, I've cut out the areas where the foams lapsed.

2. Cut out your desired pattern papers pieces to cover the foams.

3. Use a bone folder or anything that you can find to enhance the 3D blocks look.

4. Glue the papers down. Then I've inked on the lifted blocks to add some details and dimensions to it.

Using Flowers within Flower

This is a technique inspired by one of my friend's card. I've used various colours of smaller flowers to arrange a circular design in the center of a big flower. This technique had add so much detail and dimensions to my latest layout titled "I'm 1" in my baby gallery.

Recipe Card

This is my first ever recipe card. I've made it for a swap in one of the COF that I'm involved.

Since it's based on the recipe of "Chocolate Martini", I want the recipe card to look chocolaty with a hint of elegant. Therefore I've used a very dark brown card stock for the background and some pink crystals to give some chocolaty and classy look to it.

I hope that I've not done too bad for my first recipe card!

"Four"

This is a layout on Ryan's birthday. He turns four on this day and that's the reason why I'm named the layout "Four".

The inspiration for the layout came solely from the thoughts of looking at the photographs. I can't imagine how much he has grown through these years and one of his birthday gifts wrapping paper actually has the print of clocks and watches on it which directly spark the idea of using it in the layout. This kind of put the message of my thoughts in the layout as the quote in the layout reads " If you hurry all the time, you hurry past all the good things in your life".

This is the first layout that I've used a full 12x12 pattern paper for it's background. I've done a little masking of circles all around to add some depth and balanced out the look of the layout.

All the flourishes or swirls are hand drawn and cut out from a black card stock. I've used some chipboard pieces as well as a corrugated paper piece for the title. The "O" is a rub-on.

As most of you might have known, I do not own any kind of die cutting tools, so my friend, Michelle is so kind to give me some pieces that she had die cut it from her tool. The clock and the frame are some of the pieces that she had given me. I've stamped, inked and even add some pattern papers on those pieces before attaching them to the layout.
