Coloured Index Photographs Transfer

I've previously posted a "Packing Tape Transfer" topic under my tips and tricks section. This is an extension to it. This time, it's about transferring own created coloured multi-sized photographs onto packing tapes. The steps are as follows:
1. Use softwares (i.e. Microsoft Words) to copy and paste your photographs. Create an index print look with different sizes of photographs. Make sure you leave some space in between the lines. (this is to ease the sticking process later) Use toner based ink or water proof ink to print this index print onto normal printing paper. The toner ink print will give a more sharper look and the water proof ink will give a more distressed look.
2. Cover the strips of photographs using packing tapes and rub on top of it using your fingers or bone folder.

3. Cut out the photographs into it's individual sizes.

4. Choose which ever piece of photographs you want to use, soak them into water for few sections.
5. Later, rub off the backing paper using your fingers or bone folder. This will reveal the coloured image on the packing tape.
6. After rubbing off the paper backing, the tape is still sticky. Stick directly onto any surface that you want. Rub the top again using bone folder to remove any bubbles.
I've tried using both toner and water proof ink with this technique on my layouts. For the toner transfer, you can refer to my layout titled "Family" and "Bro & Sis" in my family gallery. For the water proof ink transfer, you can refer to "First Six Months" in my baby gallery.

Playtime

This layout tells the story about an artist at work. It's actually to capture Ryan when he is paying so much concentration and being so serious with his painting work. His creativity inspire me to experiment with something new for this layout.

This is an aluminium foils layout. I've used aluminium foils to create the swirl flower and the swirling tag. For details on the steps, you can refer to "Aluminium Foils in Layouts" at my tips and tricks section.

For further creativity, I've found this pattern paper that's so exciting to work with. I've overlapped part of the paper on the title and also cut out part of it to journal. It's an interesting shape for a journal tag.

The silver that reflects from the aluminium foils does give this layout a masculine looked even though it's a swirl flower and there are so much doodling in this layout.

Aluminium Foils in Layouts

I bet everyone has some aluminium foils lying around in the kitchen. Why not use the foils that are too small for cooking purposes on your layouts. Instead of throwing it away, use some imagination and apply it to your layout. Recently, I've just finished one layout titled "Playtime" in my family gallery section, using aluminium foils.

In this layout, I've used aluminium foils to create a flower swirl and a swirling tag. Follow the steps below to create an aluminium foil embellishment.

1. Paste your aluminium foils onto a piece of paper or card using some liquid glue. (make sure that every part of the aluminium foil is covered in glue). This is for easy cutting later (aluminium foils tear easily).

2. Draw your design on the aluminium foil (after pasting onto paper). You can use a stylus or any thing that are not too sharp and don't press too hard while drawing your design or else the foil will tear.

3. Slowly cut out your design. This process do take a lot of patience. You can use a craft knife or a cuticle scissors. Both works fine for this step.

You can also use some design cutters or punches to get your desired embellishments. This technique adds shine to your page which normal silver paper can't. This is because of the crinkles on the foils. Look for some aluminium foils in your kitchen and try this technique on your next layout.

Precious Tears

This layout is to capture Chloe's precious tears. It's so heart breaking to see her cry and it had just reminded me of capturing her facial expressions when she is sad.

This is my first attempt in using lots of flowers in a layout. They are actually artificial flowers bought at a very cheap price. (refer to my "Using Cheap Linen or Plastic Flowers" in my tips and tricks section for the technique to use these flowers)

I've stamped on two sides of the background paper to create a sort of an angle border. All the swirls here are hand cut or hand drawn. I know that there are die cuts in the stores that do swirls but it's too expensive for me to own one.

I've used some hand punched small petals to embellish the title to resemble Chloe's tears dripping down to the title.

I know that most of the time, we scrap about happy events or something that remind us of our happy times. But I think doing a layout based on some sad moments are also very important as our memories does not only consist of happy moments.

Using Cheap Linen or Plastic Flowers

I'm guessing here that most of us had quite a few bottles of the pre-made scrapbooking paper flowers stored and ready to be used. I must admit that these paper flowers are very nice but they are quite expensive too. Therefore, if you would liked to create a layout with lots of flowers, the price to pay might be a bit high.

Recently, I've created a layout titled "Precious Tears" in my baby gallery section, where I've used lots of flowers but on a very cheap price.

In this layout, I've used some cheap linen and plastic flowers that you could easily buy anywhere. The flowers looked more realistic and you can get lots of them at a very low price. I've used these flowers quite a few times in my layouts, such as "Strawberry Smoothies" in my family gallery section and "So Tasty" in my baby gallery section.

In order to attach the flowers to your layout, simply follow the steps below:

1. remove the plastic stopper behind the flowers which will allow you to easily pull out the middle portion of the flowers.

2. use the petals with your desired brads or even buttons.

3. If you would liked to use back the decoratives in the original flower, simply use a cutter to flatten the back of the decoratives and then you can stick it to your buttons or brads.

So next time if you come across some beautiful artificial flowers anywhere that you liked a lot, try using them in your layouts.
