Masking Templates' Negatives

What is a masking template's negative? It's the piece that you would normally throw away after removing the masking template from it. Have you thought of using it instead of throwing it away? Take a look at the picture below.

Is this image familiar to you? I've used the negative of Tim Holtz idea-ology flourish masking template to create this. Simply just layer the piece on top of your project and ink it with various distress ink. You can use a mister or ink it using a foam. Try it!
