Smile

This is a layout that I've created sometime ago while having some fun with paper doileys. It is a very simple and easy layout and I'm sure all of you could do it.

Here are the steps:
1) Use a pattern paper as the base for this layout. Cut both right and left edges into scallops. Ink all the edges with distress ink.

2) Cut out a huge rectangular from the pattern paper and distress it's edges. Ink it with distress ink and attach it to the middle of the layout. Hand stitch around it.

3) Cut out another small rectangular from another pattern paper using a deco scissors and ink around it's edges with distress ink. Attach it to the lower right of the layout.

4) Distress the edges of the photograph and attach it to the middle of the layout. Hand stitch around it.

5) Ink the edges of a die-cut floruish corner with distress ink and attach them to the upper left corner of the photograph. Detail it with pearls and liquid pearls.

6) Use the "Paper Doiley" technique to create the circle and add it on the right of the photograph. Dress it up with some liquid pearls.

7) Add a strip of wide lace horizontally across the bottom of the photograph and lace with a ribbon in between it. Hand stitch some cross-stitches on the bottom right of the wide lace. Also add a strip of thin pink trim on top of the wide lace. On the right of the trim, attach a heart with a small brad.

8) Use the "Paper Doiley" technique to create the fan and attach it with a button on the left end of the olive ribbon. Also attach another button on the right end of the ribbon.

9) Paint two chipboard stem with some white acrylic paint and stamp on it with a flower stamp and solvent ink. Use the "Paper Doiley" technique again to create the flowers and attach it to both stems. Dress them up with pearls and crystals. Tie both stems together with a ribbon and attach it to the lower left of the photograph.

10) Use a "Smile" rub-on to add the title to the layout and attach some small flower stickers all around the right of the layout.

Hope you all find this layout fun and try on the "Paper Doiley" techniques. It's always great to start off a New Year with a layout that "Smile" at you! Here's wishing all of you an exciting, colourful and fun year ahead! Happy New Year!!

Using Doiley on Layout

I'm sure I've shared some tips before on using paper doiley to mask, to create fan, borders and flowers liked the one in above picture. Don't you think that using paper doiley on layout can easily add a little feminine touch to it? I just love how it makes a layout looks so feminine with a little vintage touch to it. If you use colours of distress inks such as "antique linen", "tea dye" or "old paper", it will give a fantastic distressed vintage look to it.

Below are more ideas on how you could use paper doileys on your layouts or projects.

In the picture above, I've also use the fan folding technique to fold the paper doiley and ink it's edges with distress ink. I've add the doiley to an end of a ribbon strip with a button.

I've also used the left overs of the paper doiley, the "circle", and ink it's edges with distress ink and use it in the design of the layout.

I'll share the complete layout tomorrow. In the meantime, try to get your hands on some paper doileys and start playing! Have fun!

Tired Monday!

It's a tired and exhausted Monday! After all the parties and travelling, it has been a fun and amazing few days. But now, I just have to get into my norm and start planning again. Hope you all had gotten some cool Christmas gifts!!

So, did you all captured those magical moments during this few days using your camera? Try using them and follow along my project for this week at The Crop Spot. What better ways to inspire than to give you all some ideas as to how you all could scrap those amazing photos. This week tutorial involves using some metallic crackle paint. Check it out.

We will be taking Ryan to his orientation for standard one (grade one) at his new school this week. He is so excited. I'm feeling a little older now as Ryan is all grown up and ready for his first step to primary school. Time just flies, don't they? I guess you all might start to see some schooling pages from me.

Hiro @ 31 Weeks!

This week, we had a close call of loosing Hiro. My hubby and Ryan took Hiro for a walk around the neigbourhood and he let Ryan hold on to Hiro's leash. Hiro is known to be a little more excited than usual during outdoor walks. At that moment, Hiro suddenly felt excited and wanted to climb some stairs in a hurry. Ryan could not catch up with his strength and speed and let go of the leash. Luckily we stay in a gated community where most areas are fenced or gated. We manage to find him lurking at the children playground. The above picture had been captured when we found him. He doesn't look guilty at all....LOL!

We were so scared when he sped off. We were told that huskies are known to be escape artist and have no sense of direction to home. They will keep running until they are tired or thirsty. Have you had this kind of experience with your furkids? Share it with me.

Some Pictures of our tree!

This is our tree this year. It's newly bought and it's much bigger and taller than our old one. Which means more ornaments, lights and decorations on it. Below are some of my favourite ornaments on the tree.

I just love the vintage look of these ornaments. Perhaps next year you'll see some Tim Holtz idea-ology ornaments on this tree. I have the idea in mind but I've ran out of time to create them. Maybe I'll do a week of ornament tutorials here next year.

If you all want to share pictures of your tree with me, feel free to post a link on the comment section of this post.

Ok, I guess now some of you might have to do some last minute shopping or busy preparing for the big feast. I'll keep it short and may all you have a blessed and amazing Christmas!! Travel safe and enjoy the holidays!

Some Christmas Projects!

Here are some Christmas projects that I've created. It's actually for QKD's Dec GI Kit which will also be my last assignment for them.

Some Christmas cards:

Gift Tag:

Christmas Altered Ornament:

This year I do not have enough time to create more for Christmas. I only managed to create some minor projects here and there. I wish I've more time for more but guess it's just not happening this year. Perhaps next year I could create more Christmas projects and share the tutorials with you all.

I'm currently trying to finish up some projects for my teaching assignments before the holidays and after that, I'll be very busy with Ryan going to standard one or grade one. I'm so excited for him!! Wait till you all see him in his new school uniform. He looks so smart in it...LOL!

I'll share some pictures of my tree tomorrow. If you want to share your tree with all of us here, feel free to post a link on the comment section on tomorrow's post.

Monday is here again!!

I'm so excited!! Christmas is just round the corner and the great feeling of this magical season is all around us. Everywhere we go, we see beautiful decorations, hear amazing tunes, the smell and taste of yummy Christmas treats and the feel of loving and believing.

This week, I'll be sharing a week long tutorials on this magical mini album titled "Believe" at The Crop Spot.. This mini album features the gorgeous pattern papers from Webster's Pages and the acrylic crown mini album from Clear Scraps. It's also my first time in using some products by Ten Seconds Studio to create beautiful metal embellishment. This would be a great tutorial for all of you to follow along. Create your very own one of a kind, "magical" mini album and learn one or two new techniques along the way. I hope you all will love the new metal embellishment technique as much as I do.

I'll be sharing some pictures of my tree here soon! Enjoy the tutorials.

It's Week 30!!

I guess this is the first time that I've shared Hiro's picture taken outdoor. There is a reason for that. It is impossible to take pictures and handle him on the leash at the same time....lol!Yesterday, we've asked Ryan to hold him on the leash for a short moment for us to capture some fast shots. Of course, Hiro is calm at that moment and not overly excited.

Do you feed your dog kibbles? If yes, do you prefer chicken or lamb with rice? Or you feed him some other kind of kibbles? Share with me.

Recently, I've been in some very sad days. My DT box from Clear Scraps has met some very difficult situation with the custom locally here. Therefore, you all might not get to see any samples from me using Clear Scraps new products soon. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get the new products but no matter what, I'll still share pictures of the new products with you all when I get a green light from Clear Scraps.

Hope you all have fun doing some last minute Christmas shopping! I can't believed that it's just round the corner.

Bad To The Bone ATC

Today, I'm going to share with you all this cute little ATC that I've created using one of TPC Studio line, Bad to the Bone. This paper line is so colourful and cute that I just can't resist to create an ATC out of it. I've actually created a layout using the papers for The Crop Spot which I'll share sometime next month.

I've used Clear Scraps acrylic ATC as the base for this ATC and layer it from the front and the back using the pattern papers. I've also cut out some of the cute designs on the pattern papers and add it to the ATCs with foam adhesives. All the rest of the embellishment are also from the same line. This is such a great paper line for all dog owners. If you do own these papers, make sure you make an ATC out of the scraps.

Monday Sneak Peek!

It's Monday again! It's time for me to share a sneak peek of my project for this week on The Crop Spot. This project features the gorgeous vintage line, Domestic Goddess by Graphic 45.  I've created a collage look using the pattern papers and slightly add some rustic/grunginess to it with some metal embellishment. Check it out.

Today is definitely a very special Monday to me! It's my birthday! I'm looking forward to spend it with my family. I wonder what they've planned for me. I love surprises!! especially good ones!! LOL! Not much on the presents though as I've already got mine from my sweet hubby! He had bought me a smart phone with wifi which is very cool. I could check my email and link to various sites using it. I could even surf the web. The best part is that it allows me to blog anytime!

Love for Kong Toy!

Yesterday I was looking through all my blog post about Hiro on the "Updates on Hiro" topic here. I'm a little shock at how much he has changed and grown in just MONTHS!! I've been told that he would grown until the age of one. Is that true? Or will he be still growing after that? Share your stories with me.

Above is a picture of Hiro playing with his Kong toy! He is actually using his intelligence trying to get the treat out from the toy. He loves this toy. Thanks to those of you who had  suggested this toy for him. If you have more ideas or ways to keep Hiro busy, do share it with me here. I would love to hear them.

Some of you had asked me how is Hiro's tummy problem months ago. According to the vet, he had a tummy infection then. But the reasons could not be confirmed. It could be due to a lot of reasons. The possibilities would be, poisonous intake, insects or wrong diet. Here are some tips that I've learnt from the vet. If your dog is having a diaorhea and don't eat well, check the stools for blood. If there are blood, do not wait. Take him to the vet immediately. If none and you could not take him to the vet yet for some reason, try giving him some charcoal tablet or oral salt or 100 plus minus the gas. This will keep him hydrated. But I would suggest to take your dog to the vet if he already has diaorhea for more than 2 days. Share it with me if your puppy or dog do have the same incident before.

Me & Gaia

As per my last post, this is a layout that I've created for Artugolok as their honorary guest designer this month. This is also the first time that I've used the super gorgeous pattern papers from Gaia. Love them!

Here are some of the details on this layout.

I've cut out a huge rectangular from the pattern paper and replace it with a piece of acrylic sheet. I've stamped on it to increase it's visibility.

I've mist some distress ink all around the layout to create some contrast in the colours of the layout.

Here's another easy technique to distress your chipboard. Simply just mist some distress ink (do not cover the whole of the chipboard piece) to the chipboard alphas and later, use a cloth or wipe to dab and wipe it. This technique will result in the cool distressed look in the picture above.

This is also the first time that I've used one of Melissa Frances resin embellishment.  Love their vintage embellishment. It's originally in white. I've distressed it slightly by sanding it down a bit and later mist of distress ink on it. Later, wipe off the excess distress ink with a wipe.

How about creating more matching embellishment on your own by stamping on the remaining of the pattern paper and cut it out to embellish the layout.

I've actually cut out the silhoutte from the pattern paper but found it to be too plain for the layout. Therefore, I've used some white solvent ink to stamp on it and tie a ribbon to it.

I've also used some Russian butterfly rub-on and apply it onto a white cardstock and cut it out. Ink it's edges and fold up it's wings for dimension before attaching it to the layout.

I've already finished with the projects for the classes at San Jose, California. I'll just wait for the green light  from the organizer before sharing some sneak peeks here. Hope to meet most of you then!
