Close To You

This is my second project using "Queenscraps" August Kit. Does this page looked complicated to you? It's really not. You'll laugh when you read the steps below. This layout is about how close Chloe is to her dad. It really makes me jealous at times.
Here are the steps.
1) I've used the "Morning Glory Swirl" pattern paper as the background for this layout. Distress the edges with the "Scissors Distressing" technique and ink it with frayed burlap distress ink.
2) Create a big rectangular masking template by simple cutting it out from any paper. Temporarily attached it to the background pattern paper and use frayed burlap distress ink to mask it to the background. Later, highlight the edges using a black Zig pen.
3) The first layer is to cut out a wide strip from the "Bazzill Embossed Butterfly" card stock. Distress the edges using the scissors distressing technique and ink all over it with brushed corduroy distress ink to lightly highlight the embossed image on the card stock.
4) Next cut out a strip from the "Green Floral Damask" pattern paper. I've used a chipboard flower to trace a design on one of it's side and cut it out. This forms a unique and lace liked border strip. You could also use any border punches that you have to create this. Ink the edges with brushed corduroy distress ink on the edges. For details, I've stenciled some small circles using black soot distress ink and doodled with a white gel pen. Add some gold Stickles in the center of each circle.
5) Distress the photograph using the scissors distressing technique again and attach it on top of the strip of "Green Floral Damask" pattern paper.
6) Cover the seam again with a strip of adhesive paper ribbon in the kit.
7) I've hand drawn a huge corner swirl onto the Auckland card stock and cut it out. Highlight the edges using a white gel pen. Stencil some small circles using black soot distress ink, doodle with white gel pen and add some gold Stickles for details. Attach it to the lower left corner of the photograph.
8) To create the flowers, I've used the "Creating your own Cabbage Flower" technique. For the small flower on the left, I've used a piece of "Blue and Ivory Damask" pattern paper and a piece of "Bazzill Embossed Butterfly" card stock. For the huge flower in the middle, I've used the "Letter Stripes" pattern paper and the rest is the same with the flower on the left. For the small flower on the right, I've used the Auckland card stock instead of the "Bazzill Embossed Butterfly" card stock. Add a, adhesive pearl in the middle of each flower.
9) For the stems, I've used a little of each May Arts Ribbons that had been included in the kit. Attach them to your layout using mini glue dots.
10) Hand stitch some huge cross-stitches at the bottom of the stems.
11) The word "Close" are actually American Crafts Thickers from my own stash and the word "to you" is actually printed from the computer.
12) I've highlighted the huge flowers on the upper top right of the layout using Zig pens and white gel pen. Attach two "Embellish it!" Butterfly charms which had been included in the kit and hand doodle some swirls using a white gel pen.
I'm sure that anyone could create a layout liked this. So try it! Keep an eye for my third project tommorrow.
