Crackle Paint on Acrylic

This is another technique ATC that I've created for Clear Scraps technique showcase. This is a technique that I've shared before in the past but since I did this ATC to showcase it, I think I could share it here again.

This is an easy two steps technique. Paint the acrylic with crackle paint. I've mixed two colours of crackle paints on my ATC. To get a good crackle effect, apply a moderate layer of crackle paint on your acrylic surfaces. Leave it to dry a little and the cracks begins. When you see the cracks but it's still not fully dry, apply a thin layer of Glossy Accents on top of it to seal it. It's important not to wait till the crackle paint is fully dry as the paint will start to peel off itself from the acrylic surface when it's dry. Hope you all give this technique a try and have fun!

Water Effect on Acrylic!

Wonder how you can create a watery effect on your acrylic surfaces? I've actually created the above simple ATC for Clear Scraps's technique showcase during this Winter CHA. It's actually very easy to create the above effect. It's all about using Glossy Accents!

Cover a layer of glossy accents on top of the acrylic surface and later use a scrap paper to smudge it while it's still wet. The more glossy accents that you apply, the more dramatic the effect will be. When it's dry, Ink the back of the ATC with some blue tones and silver alcohol ink. Voila! there you have it! The water effect!

This is a post that I've scheduled before I leave for the USA. I hope you all enjoyed it!

It's Hiro's time!

Hiro is 35 Weeks old now! This is a shot that we've captured earlier this week. He is really learning more and more each week. Now, he is almost able to eat all of his threats that we've stuffed into his tricky/chewing toys without our help. He is a very smart puppy.

When we gave him some hard chewing bones to chew on, he will soften it by putting the chewing bone into his bowl of water. He is now at the pet's hotel or retreat while we were away. He will be enjoying his time with his "godmother" (the retreat owner).

I won't be posting any updates on Hiro next weekend as I'm away and could not capture any pictures of him that week. I'll resume to post his updates the weekend after when I'm back. I've also scheduled some blog posts on my weekly posts at The Crop Spot. So, check back to read on it.

Ready for another Sneak Peek?

Today, I'll share my sample using one of Clear Scraps new acrylic banner! It is a very cute banner. Clear Scraps had added a cool twist to the typical normal banner shape. Check out my sample below.

In this sample, I've used the new acrylic "Birthday banner". This banner is so cool that you could use it at almost anywhere. I've actually created this banner for Chloe and it's hung on her bed. She likes it a lot. You could easily create it in any colour to suit the room or their favourite colours and theme. I've included the theme of flowers, butterflies and a small tiara for Chloe's banner. These are some of her favourites which resembles a garden princess.  I'll be sharing this project in much more detail some other time.

There will be more sneak peeks tomorrow. Do check back for it. For those of you who wish to register for some of my classes, check out all the available classes on the right of my blog. Can't wait to meet you all there!!

34 Weeks!

It's an update about Hiro again. Look at the above picture of him. What do you think is in his mind?....We actually captured this picture of him while talking to him. He seems to be listening and showing interest. When we talk to him, he will tilt his head to the sides. He will tilt it to the right and left alternately. And when he is not titlting his head, he will turn his ears side ways. Next time, try talking to you dog and see how he reacts? It might be a great opportunity for a unique shot.

CHA is getting so near and I'll be leaving soon for the USA. I can't wait to meet some of you! Next week, I'll be posting some sneak peeks of the latest release by Clear Scraps for this coming CHA! Make sure you check back for it.

Hiro

This is a layout that I've created sometime ago for an article on SNR which feature the stamps by Darkroom Door. I just love how intricate their stamps are.

Here are some of the ways that I've used their stamps on this layout.

1) I've create a border by stamping the bottom of the layout with a huge stamp for four times. To make it more interesting, I've stamped the same image again on tag and later pop it up on one of those four stamped images earlier.

2) I've stamped some ferns behind the bunch of circles and leaves to create some height to it.

3) I've stamped using the stamps on the grungeboard hinges to create more details to it.

4) To create the interesting compass circles, I've stamped some of their compass stamps onto circles that I've cut out from the pattern paper. See how I've used the same stamp to create smaller or bigger compass circle.

5) I've stamped some words on the photograph to make the it blend it with the layout more.

More close-ups:

With these tips through this layout, hopefully you all will start to try stamping on your layouts more often. Just have some fun and try to think outside the box while using them. I know most stamps are meant for cards and some other smaller projects but with a little creativity, you could use them easily on your layouts. It's all about having fun!

Hello 2010 from Hiro!

This week, Hiro step into his 33 weeks. This week he has been a little mischevious and got my hubby chasing him around the house a few times....LOL! He is slowly trying to test his boundaries of acceptable behaviour and we have to remind him of that.

Below is another picture of Hiro smiling and wishing everyone a good year ahead!

I hope everyone would include a resolution of " I have to smile more often" in 2010!

This week is also Ryan's first week of grade one. Below is a few pictures captured on his first day of school.

Time really flies isn't it. Now he is already in grade one and I guess not long from now, he'll be graduating. I really missed his baby days.

I really can't believed that Winter CHA is just only 14 days away. I'll give more details as to when and where  I'll be during the Pre-CHA and CHA sometime next week. I really hope to meet you all there and for those who would love to take a class with me, remember to register yourself through this link. Have a great weekend!

Snow Melt Together Mini Album

This is a mini snowman album that I've created using Clear Scraps last CHA release, mini acrylic snowman album. I've used various techniques to create this mini album. Below are some close-ups and pages in it.

On the front cover, I've stamped some snowflakes using a Glue Pad and sprinkle some silver glitters all over it.

I've used the "Ice Stickles to Create Frost" technique on all the top edges of everything to create the frost look on this mini album.

If you have a long title for a mini album and could not fit on the front cover, simply add it to the back of the cover to make the album more interesting. For the second page, I've embossed the acrylic and sand it on it's back to give it a frost look.

On the fourth page, I've stamped on it with a snowflake stamp and some black solvent ink.

On the fifth page, I've stamped some snowflakes using distress ink on the paper. I've also add a tag in between page 5 and 6.

I've added Ice stickles on everything on these pages.

I really love how this mini snowman album turns out. The Ice Stickles really does the work and the shape of the album tells it all. Why not try creating one of this mini album during this winter? It will be such a fun project to create and share it with your little ones.

Time is getting near for CHA! Have you all registered for my classes at San Jose, CA? If you have not, check it out here. You would not be disappointed. This might be my only trip to USA for a long time. So grab the chance and join me in some fun-filled classes!
