Distressed Bookmarks

These are some distressed bookmarks that I've created for some of my generous blog readers and friends. I love the effect created using paper doileys in my last two projects, therefore I've continued to use it in these bookmarks too.

"Journey of Your Heart" bookmark:

1. I've used the pine needles and black soot distress ink to mask (using paper doileys as mask)and ink the background. I've also used the scissors distressing technique to distress the edges of the bookmark and inked with the black soot distress ink.

2. Then, I've added layers of pattern paper and paper doiley. To add some details, I've added some stamping, flowers and sequins to it.

"Cherish" bookmark:

1. First I've masked the background using a paper doiley, some distress ink (black soot) and some white pigment ink. I've also distressed the edges of the bookmark using the scissors distressing technique and inked it using some distress ink (black soot). Later I've added layers of pattern paper and paper doileys (I've used the spice marmalade and tea dye distress ink to ink on the paper doiley first).

2. To add some details, I've added some stamping, doodling, flowers and sequins.

"Love" bookmark:

1. First I've masked the background using a paper doiley and some distress ink (pine needles and faded jeans). I've also distressed the edges of the bookmark using the scissors distressing technique and inked it using some distress ink (black soot). Then, I've stamped the "love" using the faded jeans distress ink.

2. I've torn out a strip of vellum and inked on the edges using some distress ink. I've sprinkled some embossing powder (antique colour) on the edges and later use a heat tool to emboss it. (Tip: Distress ink can also be used as embossing ink)

3. To add some details to it, I've stamped and embellished it with some flowers.

"Best Friends" bookmark:

1. First, I've torn out some mulberry paper and some tissue paper to paste on the card stock.
2. Then I've used a cosmetic sponge and some distress ink (spice marmalade and vintage photo) to ink over the textured surface.
3. I've used a paper doiley (partly folded) to layer on the lower left corner and I've inked it using the tea dye distress ink.
4. I've used the black soot distress ink and rub it directly on the uneven textures. Then I've sprinkled some embossing powder on it. Lightly tap on the card stock to remove some of the embossing powder. I've used a heat tool to emboss it. This will create the "sandy rock" look.
5. As for the "best friends" word, I've used the spice marmalade distress ink to stamp it and unevenly sprinkled some embossing powder on it. Tap it to remove most of the embossing powder and only a small amount left on the stamped word. Later, using a heat tool to emboss it. This will create a distressed look to the word.
6. I've added a flower to soften the overall "sandy rock" look of the bookmark.
