I remember promising some of you who had emailed me to post the details on this layout which had been published in Scrapbook Creations a few months ago. So, here it is. It's a layout about me.
Here are the details.
I've used the "Extreme Punching To Distress" technique all over the layout
I've stamped a compass and masked a border at the bottom of the page using a template and distress ink.
I've used some tags to add some journaling.I've added some metal embellishment to create a more vintage old look to it.
To further create an aged look to it, I've stamped some words on a cardstock and later distressed it and attached it to the layout using metal elements.
I've layer a clock overlay with chipboard clock and attach it to a strap using a spinner and brad.
I've distressed a bare chipboard frame with some white paint and attached it using mini brads.
I've used a swivel clasp to create a visual effect of the frame is hanging from the top.Do try to read this layout using your heart. I've actually put my thoughts and dream into the design of this layout. Try interpreting it and post it in the comment section below.
So, did you all try to "read using your heart" on my last layout titled "Hold My Hand"? Did it inspire you all in a new way? You all have till this weekend to post your comment on that post and I'll be choosing a winner on Monday! Make sure you all check back for the announcement!
Sources: Cardstock: Bazzill; Pattern Papers: Stamp It; Inks: Ranger Distress Ink, Tsukineko Staz On; Stamps: QKD; Rub-Ons: Basic Grey; Chipboard: Heidi Swapp; Overlay: Heidi Swapp; Others: Ranger Crackle Paint, Making Memories Acrylic Paint, Tim Holtz idea-ology metal embellishment, mask and tag, 7Gypsies tag, floss for stitching, eyelet, brads, crafting wire, staples, Glue Dots and other adhesives.
Another perfect layout! I will definitely use this layout for inspiration! I love your distressing techniques.
ReplyDeleteWOW this reading with your heart is really intriguing and yet VERY hard to do Irene!
ReplyDeleteI'll give it a go....the man represents British Decent??? I'm not sure who he is. I think the fact that you look so deep in thought and the multiple clocks may represent the fact you have thought of this before.
I thing the 8 on the clocks represents the year the picture was taken 2008- the strap represents freezing of the moment (?)I'm thinking the aged looking metal may also represent the passing of time, perhaps this is your Birthday and you are reflecting on your past and where you want your life to go from that point on???
I will be very interested to hear what all the pieces on your LOs do represent Irene!
Take care and Thank you for the thought provoking LOs!!
beutifully done!!
ReplyDeleteYou come up with the most awesome techniques! I love reading your blog. There are so many things I'd like to try I could fill a book with all your ideas. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful work.
ReplyDeletelove how you aren't afraid to step outside the box. Inking right onto your photos or punching holes right into your pages/photos. You always rock the tim holtz products and misting and masking is definately your forte. Love all the extra attention to detail your provide with your close ups! Always inspired, Tara.
ReplyDeleteFantastic lo (of course your work is always amazing) Your picture looks beauiful and and reflective - thinking about the past and the futer at the same time. The holes perhaps loss - time fleeting. As well as the clocks showing past and the future. Perhaps all of the distressing represents a hard road you have taken and yet some of the metal remains untouched- representing the future? The man maybe represents a lost loved one, father or grandfather. I am thinking that he has passed because he is transparent- like this is representing his spirit. I love that the journaling tag is on a library card -representing your life, written by, like a book we are on borrowed time.
ReplyDeleteThose are just some thoughts. It is beautiful and inspiring.
Stunning!! :)
ReplyDeleteTout simplement sublime, j'adore!
ReplyDeleteIrene, your layouts are simply the most beautiful and consistently wonderful that I've seen! I've taken classes from Tim Holtz and love everything that he does. You take distressing, aging and masking to new levels - things that I would never have thought to do. How you manage to put so much on your blog is a mystery to me. I look forward to seeing what you've done first thing every morning. A day without Irene is like a day without inspiration!
ReplyDeleteIrene,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful layout as always...
You look sad in the picture...it makes me wonder who the loved one was that you lost and are thinking about...always there on your mind and in your heart....life goes on and you don't know where you are headed but you are following your heart and taking it one step one day at a time....
Julia
Irene,
ReplyDeleteLove the layout as usual - you do beautiful work.
To me the photo looks so sad. It makes wonder who the loved one is that you lost. That someone that is on your mind daily and in your heart always. That life is a journey and you must follow your heart - taking it one moment one day at a time even though you do not know where it will lead you....
Julia

ReplyDeleteI have never seen anything like this! It is a piece of art! Clearly you are reminiscing. Way back when you decided to follow your dreams...and I would say it involves creativeness and the fruition can be seen in this layout. Time has provided inspiration for sure!
