Gift Box from Empty Tissue Box

Gift Box by Irene Tan using BoBunny You're Invited collection

Hello friends! Recently, I've been asked to wrap a birthday present up. I always thought that the traditional paper wrapping would normally go to waste. Therefore, I wanted to create something that could kind of wrap up the gift and still be used after the recipient open up the gift.

With this, I've came up with an idea of using an empty tissue box and convert it into a gift box which may also be used as a keepsake box in the future.

Sorry that I've forgotten to take any steps pictures during the process. But I guess you all could imagine it with the steps described below.

1) Get and empty tissue box and cut around the box around 1.5" from the top. You can use a pen knife for this task. Now, the box should be in two piece. The top will be used as the cover.

2) Then, cut out a 2" strip of cardboard and glue it around the top edges of the bottom box piece. Leave about 1.5" of the strip peeking out of the box. This will create kind of a grip place for the cover.

3) Lastly, cover the box and its cover with pattern papers and decorate it.

Isn't this simple? You can also use a shoe box for this. For the shoe box, you don't need to cut it up at all. Just decorate it. This way, you will have a personalized gift box/keepsake box.

Here are some details on my gift box.
