Paper Doily, Acrylic and Vellum flower

This is a little flower technique that I've written up for Scrapbooking m.m. in their May/June issue. This is actually a very simple layering technique of paper doily, acrylic and vellum.

Here are the steps to it.
1. Get a small circle paper doily and cut it's center out.
2. Make one snip of the ring of paper doily.
3. Fold pleats all the way around the paper doily to make it into a smaller ring. You can ink it's edges with distress ink if you want to.
 4. Use a small acrylic flower and run it through an embossing machine such as Sizzix or Cuttlebug. (Note: I've used a Clear Scraps acrylic flower but you can get a sheet of acrylic and cut out a flower from it using a die-cut machine or your scissors.) After embossing it, use a solvent ink pad such as Staz on or Archival Ink and lightly dab on top of the embossed images.

5. Also trace a huge flower shape onto a piece of vellum and cut it out. Highlight the edges of the vellum flower using a white gel pen. (Tip: Remember to cut some slits on the acrylic flower so that you could fold up the petals to create some dimensions later.) Put the separate pieces together with the vellum being on the bottom, then the acrylic flower and lastly the paper doily flower on top. Embellish the middle of the flower with a decorative brad or a button.

Note: For this flower technique, you could always reduce the layers to create smaller or medium size flowers. This would give you a great combination of flowers for your projects.

Hope you all like this simple technique. Try it!
